man it’s great living here… why didn’t i decide to do this earlier?
it’s been a week since my last update. i feel i should write more often but i just don’t have the time.
friday of last week i went up to hotshot performance in irwindale to check out the shop. the owner, john, is the nicest guy in the world (he invited me up to take a look in the first place) and the shop was incredible. it was like header heaven! they’ve got tons of neat machines and lots of fantastic stuff and yea, it was reallllly cool. plus irwindale speedway is right around the corner! 😀 so i got the grand tour and hung around the shop for a while, then some of his friends came over and had band practice. yep. a hardcore band. and they were REALLY good! while they were playing, this guy came in wearing a se-r shirt so i complemented him on it and he was like naahh it’s nerdy and i’m like are you kidding? the b13 isn’t nerdy! and he’s like what do you know about b13s? he said it inquisitively not rudely so it was cool. so i was like did you see that turbo g20 out there and he’s
like yeah and i’m like haha it’s mine and he was like word and i was like fo rizzle homeslice. well, that’s not exaclty how we ended it. haha. anyway, turns out he drives in the SE-R cup and asked if i wanted to go see his “racecar b13” (built specifically for the se-r cup) which was amaaaazinnng and djhfjdhsf i had so much fun! it was great. i hung out all night with people who i have looked up to for so long and i feel so honored to have had met them. they were wonderful. i couldn’t have asked for a better experience. he had this guy living with him, an exchange student from japan, and i spoke to him a little in japanese and he understood me and actually said i speak very well and it was fun cause at least i know i am comprehensible when i try to talk. he didn’t speak english too well so whatever he couldn’t understand i’d say in japanese, and whatever japanese i didn’t understand he’d say in english. sweet.
i spent saturday just sleeping. oh man it was great. except i still don’t have a bed so sleeping consists of me laying on the floor with a blanket and a pillow and consequently not getting much sleep at all. oh well. i tried.
sunday was actually really suprising. one of my bosses came over to drop off some furniture he had that had been sitting in his garage for like a year. it’s nothing spectacular, a coffee table and a little dinette table/chairs, but it’s something, and i
‘m grateful to have more than nothing. problem was, it was kinda dirty from being in the garage. cobwebs and i found a few dead spiders which means i couldn’t go in my livingroom anymore (which is where the furniture is) but my friend angelo came over later and cleaned it all for me and he did it really well so i’m not scared of it anymore and now i can use it. plus he brought me coffeeeeee 😀 i ❤ coffee. and now, i ❤ angelo too. woot.
so anyway, sunday was even better than just free furniture.
around noon i was eating lunch, and i hear a car outside rev’ving. and it sounded really strong.
now, there’s a few nice-ass cars in the area.
there’s an s13 that parks across the street, it’s done really nicely, and i see it every day.
recently (past two weeks) i’ve noticed a new car.
a hachi roku. full drift-spec. it’s gorgeous.
so i thought maybe it was one of those two cars that i heard, and i ran outside to look
but it wasn’t
it was a turbo miata, and an rx-8
so i asked if i could come over and see the car, and the three japanese guys standing around said sure of course so i ran and got my keys and went over to check it out, and omggg it was beautiful. and the guys were sooo nice. we hung out for a while and talked for a while and one of the guys owns a shop here in torrance (enon
vativ force
), and they invited me down to come hang out.
then they wanted to see my car, so i went and got it, and when i came back with it, they were talking to eachother in japanese and i could understand pretty well and they were talking about how beautiful my car was (kiree na kuruma desu ne!) and all this other really cool stuff and it made me happy.
so then i said something to them in japanese and they were like omg you speak japanese! that’s great! and we had conversations and i could totally hold my own and it was cool. then the guy that owns the shop, his wife came out (she owned the rx-8) and she had her baby daughter with her.
the girl’s name was silvia.
yes, after the nissan silvia.
then, their son (about 4y/o) came over to say hi.
his name was skyline.
yes, after the nissan skyline.
it was amazing. that was the coolest thing EVER.
so it was an amazing weekend, as usual.
jay is coming to visit a week from today, i can’t wait to see him.
work was cool today. i got to do a lot of work for sema and it was fun.

this is gonna be another long one… 😉
things have been going really well here. i am really enjoying california. the weather is lovely all the time and it’s just so damn beautiful. plus i feel more at home here than in philly because there is water to one side of me… growing up in ny there was always water surrounding me, but in philly it is landlocked and i think that has something to do with me feeling more comfortable here than there. strange.
anyway, moving on.
i don’t remember anything too exciting about the past week.
friday i came in to work for a few hours, then drove over to bothwell motorsports to drop off my car. i met the garrett drag team, they were all such incredibly nice guys. we drove over to the airport, and i went off to find my flight… i left lax at like 1:30pm and arrived in newark around 9:45pm. eep. but it was a really nice flight. the plane was practically empty and i wound up chillin with this guy who flies F18 figher jets for the military. it was really interesting.
we got back to the hotel and i go up to my
room (which was amazing – click here for a picture, ultra pimp) and drop off my stuff and as i’m walking back to the elevator to meet up with my coworkers to go to the bar for dinner, this really cute guy walks out of the elevator and i’m just so damn tired i think to myself ‘wow he was cute. but he looks really familiar, i wonder where i know him from…’ haha turns out i realized a few minutes later it was steph papadakis 😀
saturday morning we all woke up and drove down to englishtown. the weather was shitty and cold but it wasn’t too bad. i had a lot of fun working in the garrett booth and whatnot. saw a bunch of incredibly fast passes (papadakis went 6.4 at 211 mph) and got to hang out with some friends that showed up.
when we were setting up the booth in the morning the wind was blowing really hard and i got something in my eye and it hurt so bad and it kept getting worse that by the end of the day i literally couldn’t even open it and it hurt so bad to look at light and it sucked majory. haha. oh well.
went to hibachi for dinner and hung out with everyone from my job. they are all awesome. times ten.
sunday morning my damn alarm didn’t go off so i was a little late waking up and i felt like ass because i didn’t want to be late since i am still ne
w here but nobody really even noticed which was awesome… got to the track, set up the booth, and thankfully the weather was so much better…
so i’m sitting at the booth just relaxing cause it was slow in the morning and guess who comes over to talk to me? stephan 😀 he’s so cute. we talked for a while he is like the *nicest* guy in the world. bah. i feel like a groupie. haha. oh well.
but the day got progressively busier as the garrett cars did better and better. we set the new hotrod et and mph records with the garrett GT drag car. our driver, ron lummus, is an awesome guy and he’s a blast to hang out with. he’s totally down to earth. \m/
a bunch of my friends showed up to say hey and hang out and man i was SO happy to see everyone. i love my friends more than life itself and it meant so much to me that so many people took the day to come and see me. it was awesome. i miss everyone already!! i love you guys!!!
but anyway. we were kicking ass with the GT racecar (’04 pontiac sunfire) and we won the final round against kenny tran by a great lead, but the car was later disqualified because our tires were 3/10 of an inch too wide! damnit! the worst part is, the car passed tech inspection before the race and was deemed legal, but one of the officials had come over to the crew earlier and mentioned that the tires may be illegal but after we asked him a billion times h
e couldn’t give a difinitive answer so the team decided to just keep them on… oh well. it sucked really bad especially considering how well the team had done all weekend. but the cool thing is, kenny tran refused to accept the award/throphy/prize money because he said the reasons for DQ was bullshit and blah blah blah and yeah it was really classy of him.
the best part is, i was walkin around etown on my break, and all these guys that work at other vendor tents/booths kept coming up to me and saying ‘you look so familiar, where do i know you from?’ and i’d be like ‘i used to come here as a spectator!’ and they were like whoa you’re working for garrett now, congratulations! it was cool. plus the guys from the other race teams kept congratulating me on ‘my teams success’ whenever i walked by which was nice. it’s really weird being actually involved in the races rather than just going to watch them. it’s really a cool feeling, like, it’s just so much more exciting when you’ve got a connection with the cars and racers…
anyway. flew back to LA on monday morning which was horrid because my flight was at 7am so we left the hotel at 4:30am and i figured i’d rather just not sleep that night than risk not waking up and missing the flight and i just assumed i’d be able to sleep on the plane. WRONG. it was the worst flight ever. completely full, and i got wedged between these two huge fa
t women that spilled into my seat so *i* didn’t even have any room, and i am tiny i don’t take up much space! plus one was wearing horrific perfume and the other was reading a book called the spirit of intamacy *ick* and every time i tried to fall asleep they’d jab me with their elbows. beeches.
got back to LA around 1030am PST, went to bothwell, said goodbye to the guys, picked up my car, dropped my stuff off at home, and went to work for a few hours…
the end.
