OMG it’s an update that *isn’t* a month since my last one! I know, I can’t believe it either 😉
This weekend rocked.
First, Valentine’s Day was lovely. Erik sent me a really cute bouquet of flowers to work. Funny thing is, the flowers are meant to look like a margarita (white pretty something-flowers in a margarita glass with a yellow rose and a “slice of lime” with a straw, really beautiful actually!) and people kept coming over to ask if there really was alcohol in it. Ha! Also attached was a pretty balloon which floated high above my cube like a big red shiny love beacon (ok, yeah, reading that made even me nauseous!)
Saturday morning we woke up and tried to figure out what to do. I had about $350 worth of gift cards to blow, and Erik has his new super-fancy-big-time-grown-up job, so we decided to go to the north Georgia premium outlets. I got a *ton* of clothes for dirt cheap, including a really cute skirt, Coach shoes (had a gift card to there) and gorgeous suit that totally makes me feel like I belong in a country club bu
t it rocks and I love it. If I didn’t know he was straight, I’d really think Erik was gay considering how much fun he is to shop with 😛
Later that night we went to dinner then to a party at a friend’s house for a bit.
Sunday was great. Eugene and I had concocted a sneaky stealthy plan to get Erik and the Outback to Douglasville. We told him we were going to a Subaru meet. So we pull into this subdivision and up to a house and he’s all “uhh wtf?” and I’m like ‘Surprise!! You’re not going to a meet, you’re getting tint!’ for Valentine’s Day, since he’s wanted to tint that damn thing for 2+ years. Many thanks to Eugene for helping out with the plan.
While it was getting tinted we drove around a bit, got Dim Sum for lunch, etc… After, we went to dinner with Eugene, Shorts and Mikey P. in Marietta then back home. It stormed like crazy all day Sunday and there were tornado warnings and general chaos and, well, I’m definitely not used to living somewhere where tornadoes are a commonality. Although there was one in Lynbrook in ’98 and another in Brooklyn this year, but who’s counting? 😉
Monday I had off from work so I hung around the house cleaning and getting this laptop up to par. Turns out I don’t hate it as much as I thought. It’s actually really nice. It’s very comfortable and I’ve tweaked the shit out of Vista so it’s not intolerable.
I’m getting used to it. It’s pink. Yeah, I’ll admit… I’m happy.
What else… The G should be “back to normal” soon. I finally got around to ordering tune up parts today (thanks to Justin at EverythingNissan.com for the hookup, as always) so that I can finally get around to putting in the lifters I’ve had for over a year and hopefully make that damn ticking noise stop. I also ordered a new antenna to replace the one I accidentally crunched on Friday in the garage door and will call the insurance company about the windshield soon (stupid rock hit it on the freeway and since its been cold lately, I now have a 12″ crack in the middle… oof).
Okay, that’s it for now. Much love!
Dude, I got a Dell!
February 13, 2008So I haven’t updated in a bit and there’s a reason for it- my laptop ate yet another hard drive. That’s right, only took 6 months this time and brings the grand total to four drives in six years. I think it’s because the thing runs so damn hot that it just fries them.
Anyway, I gave up on it for good and bought a new laptop, which I am still on the fence about whether I love it or hate it. I got a Dell Inspiron 1525 in pink (of course) with Vista (bleh) and I’m not exactly thrilled. The machine itself is great (Core 2 Duo 2.0ghz, 160gb 7200rpm hd, 3gb ram, etc. and a 160gb external hd) but Vista is, well, uncomfortable. And, since it’s a 15.4″ widescreen as compared to my 15″ standard, I actually lost about 1.5″ of vertical viewing space. Ugh. I guess it’ll just take time for me to get used to it… I spent every single day of the past six years with the Gateway (which I love beyond words, and miss terribly now) so I’m sure this whole “unsure” thing is just part of the getting-used-to-something-else process.

My new job is great so far. Everyone here is really cool, the work is interesting, and the company (TMP Worldwide Advertising & Communications) is awesome. Hours are great (9am-5pm), tons of PTO days and holidays, everyone uses Trillian for inter-office communication (hah) and they even cater lunch for the entire office every Thursday and breakfast every Friday!
Although it goes without saying I miss my buddies back at TSI a lot. It sucks not being there anymore and not being able to act like a rere with my customer service homies (Hi John!!) but, unfortunately, being able to pay the bills takes priority over everything else.
So the other day someone on a German Nissan forum found my i<3boost site and posted a link… in three days I had gotten 150+ hits from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, etc. checking out my car and whatnot. Totally random, but pretty cool I think 😉
